This workshop is for anyone who is curious about polymer plates for letterpress printing. Maybe you are a designer working with clients and want to be able to explain the process of letterpress printing more easily, or perhaps you're an artist who wants to use polymer plates in your printmaking practice! Whatever the reason, I hope this workshop will give you some valuable insights. What will be covered in this 2-hour online meeting: - short presentation on turning your artwork (analog or digital) into a good pre-press file for platemaking (we will use adobe illustrator and photoshop in the demo). We will be designing a 2"x6" bookmark. - Full process of making a polymer plate from start to finish, live and in real time! This will take about half an hour - Printing from a polymer plate on the Vandercook press and/or platen press - Q+A you may have about preparing files, where to get plates made, and DIY methods etc If you are in Toronto and would like to come to PART 2: POLYMER PLATE PRINTING the in-person workshop where we print your 2"x6" bookmark design together please sign up on our workshops page. In-person class is limited to 8 people, and takes place the following week on Thursday May 21st from 7pm-9pm.
